Christopher Busietta is a Melbourne born lyric tenor, actor and composer currently engaged in Germany as a full-time tenor soloist with Theater Augsburg until July 2012. He began his professional work in Australia in 2004 as a soloist in concert and oratorio with local choirs and orchestras in Melbourne, and as a professional chorister with Opera Australia and Victorian Opera. He then went on to become a principal tenor with Opera Australia (OzOpera Schools company), Lyric Opera of Melbourne and iOpera.After winning the 2009 German Australian Opera Grant, he relocated to Germany as a full-time tenor soloist, singing with Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Theater Aachen and now Theater Augsburg. He will also perform with Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in February 2012.
His 32 operatic roles include Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola), Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), the title role in Amalia's Erwin und Elmire, Goro (Madama Butterfly) and Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro), with upcoming roles including Alfred (Die Fledermaus) and Der Steuermann (Der Fliegender Höllander). He graduated from the Melba Memorial Conservatorium of Music in 2006. He also holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Monash University (Clayton). |
